TiVo(tm) for Software, the future is now!

Speaker:

Jonathan Lindo (Co-founder/CEO of Replay Solutions, Inc.)

When:

Tuesday, June 9, 2009, 6:30 to 8:15 pm

Where:

Hewlett-Packard, Building 48 (Oak Room), 19483 Pruneridge Ave, Cupertino

Abstract:

The concept of 'TiVo for Software' has been described by some as a potential Holy Grail for application teams.  Software record/replay systems have existed in various forms for several years.  All of these are designed to give a deeper insight into the inner workings of your applications, while at the same time allowing teams to spend less time setting up and reproducing the original conditions your software was running in.  In 2009, this technology has finally reached the point where it can be broadly deployed across the entire software lifecycle, from development, QA, staging, and in production with live customers.

In this talk, we will walk through the evolution of record/replay systems, look at what's now currently available, and examine the types of problems that are being solved today with this technology.  We will also explore how record/replay technology is dramatically changing the way that software problems are solved, changes are deployed, and data centers are managed.

Speaker Information:

Jonathan Lindo is co-founder/CEO of Replay Solutions, a pioneer in source code-level record/replay technologies.  Jonathan is passionate about improving the way software is built and delivered.  His research has resulted in multiple patent filings, including a patent issued for the recording/replaying of computer programs.  Jonathan frequently speaks on software lifecycle best practices and enjoys engaging audiences to uncover new ideas for using technology to improve the lives of software teams.  He studied Electrical Engineering at Carleton University before being pulled into the software industry.  He has over 15 years experience as an engineer and entrepreneur.
